  • With the latest 'catch', Gadsden, What now for Miami?

    Tuesday, June 24, 2003
    Jessica Savoy and Neon Feverdream
    MDBW Staff Writers

Feverdream: Welcome to Point-Counterpoint with everyone's favorite grouches, Jessica and Neon...
Jessica: ppsstt, I want to laugh right here!
Feverdream: Today's topic-- what does the signing of O.G. mean to the team?
Feverdream: Super-grouch Jessica will start things off with her typically jaded opinion...
Jessica: (sighs) Actually, it isn't THAT jaded....it may do some good.
Jessica: Gadsden is a veteran who knows Norv Turner's offensive system and will be a huge mentor to the new receivers Miami has picked up.
Feverdream: But will he make the team, do you think?
Jessica: That is the iffy part. He will have to work his butt off to compete with the new dose of talent that has been added to the 'Phins.
Feverdream: I have heard certain rumors that the Dolphins are considering only keeping 4 WRs on the roster because of the need to pretend that [Charlie] Rogers is a RB. What do you think of this scheme?
Jessica: I think that is a rumor and nothing more. Considering the way our WRs have been the past few years, they know they need ALL the WRs they can keep on roster.
Jessica: Chambers was disappointing last season, and in reality when the big play was needed, Gadsden was the only one capable of making that big play. For example his one handed grab against the Jets early in the season.
Feverdream: I`ve gotta agree with that. There is no way that we could go into a season with only 4 WRs considering the injury history of the guys that we have. Can we make the assumption that the 'Phins are going to carry 5 then?
Jessica: I would logically assume that if they are half as intelligent as we are, they will.
Feverdream: Well... Dave Wannstedt IS still involved with the team.
Jessica: Exactly, so we shall see who should run this team after he chooses his WRs: him or us.
Feverdream: Well, if I were in charge, I would assume that my starters would be Thompson and Chambers. O.G. as my 3rd down guy, and Tolver, Baker, McKnight, Simmons, and Newsome fighting for the remaining two spots.
Jessica: Oh gosh, I agree with you.
Feverdream: Well... that's it for this week then... two grouches signing off!
Jessica: And probably witnessing the LAST time we agree!
