Traded up from 126 to 121 (with the Cowboys) to get OLB A J Edds from Iowa. Edds is something of a project judging from his bio, but is likely a strong special teams contributor right away, and a coachable OLB for the future. |

and the rest of the Draft is:
5th Round Pick 145 Nolan Carroll, CB out of Maryland. Broke his leg early in the 2009 season, missed the rest of the season. Was a WR prior to 2007. Solid special teams player. 5th Round Pick 163 Reshad Jones, Safety out of Georgia. Plays both strong safety and free safety. Led the team in interceptions two years in a row. Also returned punts. 7th Round Pick 212 Chris McCoy, LB out of Middle Tennessee State. Voted SBC Defensive Player of the Year. 7 sacks, 20 TFLs & 2 fumble recoveries. Speedy 6' 2" 245 pounds. (Geesh! What a great pick!) 7th Round Pick 252 Austin Spitler, LB out of Ohio State. 6' 3" 234 pounds, played all three LB positions for Ohio State, prefers middle. Started his senior year, backed up James Laurinaitis for three years prior. |

I am a huge believer in instant replay. First impressions can sometimes be wrong for all sorts of reasons, and it's useful to have the chance to step back from the immediate situation and consider a decision when provided with more information.
It's just he same with the Draft. It's too easy to make knee jerk reactions to the picks based on what you might have been anticipating or worse still based on what Mel Kiper said was best. We've now had a chance to digest Miami's 2010 Draft a bit. And having sat back and thought about it, and read about it, I have changed my opinion from "That was wierd" to That was a REALLY solid Draft." All that he Dolphins have done is what I was pleading for during all those years leading up to the 1-15 season, and that is to build from the trenches. They did it again this year with some names we weren't expecting, but with really solid players. To my mind, this Draft right now deserves an "A" grade, though as we all know only time will tell. |
