So if we do end up signing this guy then obviously my prediction of drafting Alex Mack would change. I guess the thought here is that Brown has a year of starting under his belt and was very successful at it. He's heavier and stronger than Satele, and supposedly a better leader of the offensive line.

But he comes with a considerable price tag, right? However if you want serious talent you gotta be willing to pay for it.

We have resigned Carey, and he's going to cost about 5.25M against the cap this year, so that leaves us with a little under 19M of wiggle room. We also need to resign Bell, Goodman, and possibly Crowder if he doesn't leave. I think there is enough money available under the cap to make one big free agent signing. The question is who we want to spend that money on relative to who is available in the draft.

There are a ton of WRs available in the draft, and the only big name free agent is Housyamama, and honestly, he's not worth as much as he's gonna get paid (see Bernard Berrian, Javon Walker, Jerry Porter, and our very own Ernest Wilford).

I think it is between Brown and his teammate Bart Scott, who would be a huge upgrade at LB and an immediate compliment to Porter.
