Turns out Parcells has an opt out clause if Wayne sells the team...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3795922

Please don't let this happen! If it does, there will be no one to blame other than Barack Hussein Obama and his stupid plans to increase taxes, specifically capital gains.

Forget about all that for the moment though...

GO PHINS. BEAT THE JESTERS! and old man favre...

He ain't going anywhere. Besides, if he does, it doesn't matter cuz we already have Ireland and Sparano and I'm sure they are not going anywhere! He might be able to take some of our assistants though...

I can understand that option in his contract after working for Jerry Jones, however we don't know if he will or won't like Ross. Hopefully Ross isn't like Washington's owner either. He is a jerk.

Also be aware that while Parcells can walk, his entourage must stay in Miami. Parcells success is also based on using people he knows and can trust to do the job right. I don't think his time in Miami is done yet. This is just something to stir up readership.

It's just a matter of Ross telling Parcells that he answers to nobody but him. That the tuna is the BIG Tuna.

I just don't think Parcells will leave because he's basically retired in South Florida, he's done his job with Miami, yes, the draft is coming up, but that is sort of like a hobby for him. He doesn't have to go through the stress of actually coaching the team. It's sort of like he's playing one huge fantasy football game and is really good at it. Why go to another failure of a team especially in an awful place like Clevelend or Detroit and start all over when you have it so good in Miami? Ross isn't gonna change anything, he is a life-long Dolphins fan, and may be exactly what this team needs in an owner, someone who puts the teams' success on the field first, and will do anything to make sure they are winners. Look at franchises like Pittsburgh, Dallas, New York Giants, New England, etc. they are all perennial winners and always in it, and if they aren't you bet your butt they will be soon. This is because ownership has a vested interest in making sure there is a product on the field first.

Parcells ain't going anywhere.

Guys like him have it their way or no way. If Ross isn't into that I could easily see Parcells walking. If Ross is into that, then we are in good shape.

I'm pretty sure he will be. As I said, he's a Dolphins fan first, so I assume he will put the success on the field first.

The good news is that Parcells plans on staying in Miami, or so he says for the moment. However Adam Schefter points out something which means this whole thing isn't over yet.

So what would Parcells do if Ireland was forced out?

Bill likes his guys, but I don't think they are looking at Peterson as a replacement for Ireland.

Ok, lets get this clear, Parcells is from Jersey, Sparano is from Conneticut, and Ross is from Cali. Ross only lives in NY that doens't make him a New Yawker. Just someone who knows how much fun it is to live there.

As for the Beasties, they are from NY and so they are Ok in my book :-)

You are correct MD, according to ESPN Ross is a South Florida boy:

"Ross, 68, made his billions as a lawyer and developer and is chairman of Related Companies, an international real estate development company. He has homes in New York and Palm Beach, and he ranked 78th in 2008 on Forbes' list of richest Americans with a net worth of $4.5 billion.

Ross attended Miami Beach High School and the University of Florida, then earned degrees from Michigan and Wayne State law school. He began his career in Detroit as a tax attorney, and the Michigan business school bears his name.

Once a minority partner with the New York Islanders, Ross was part of a group in 1990 that tried to bring baseball to Miami before Huizenga became founding owner of the Florida Marlins. He also made an unsuccessful bid for the New York Jets in 1999."

this decision by Fatcells is going to come down to the 11th hour.

So, in the next 28 days Parcells has to test Ross in order to be convinced that Ross will do whatever the Toona asks immediately and without question. So what test can the stout one possibly come up with that will help him trust his new boss?

How about leaving his morning plate of donuts in safekeeping with Ross. If one is gone when Bill comes back to collect them, so is he.

Actually, as Mando points out in his Herald Blog, the emphasis is on what Ross has to do to make Parcells trust him. Parcells can still walk and win.

Still a long way to go.

Also are we talking Krispy Creame or Dunkin Donuts? I mean if you realy want to know if you can trust him you can't just use any old Donut. You gotta get the tastiest.

Maybe we can send a platefull over to Parcells as a sign of our Friendship. Who here lives in Miami and can do that for us. Leave a little note saying "Please Stay".

OK guys. If Parcells walks now, he's in the same category as Saban. He has categorically stated that he intends to continue doing what he is doing. He has no intention of leaving the Dolphins right now. Next year, who knows, but he's not trying to leverage this situation to get himself more money. He has obviously decided that Ross is for real and will back him.

Well, finally we are getting closer to the truth about Steve Ross' roots. There's an article in today's Palm Beach Post which says, amongst other things:

"Ross' South Florida roots took hold in the mid-1950s, when his family moved to Miami Beach from suburban Detroit. Ross' father, David, was an inventor, never truly successful.

Ross enrolled at Miami Beach High, where he had a difficult time making friends. His grades slipped, and he graduated in 1958 ranked 400th in a class of 440.

"Those three years in Miami were the worst in my life," Ross told Lifestyles magazine in 2005."

Hate to burst the countdown bubble guys, but that clause was removed from the contract prior to the sale to Ross.

Uncle Bill can leave whenever he wants, no questions asked, with full pay to the end of his contract.

No pressure, and so long as Ross isn't an interfering jerk, my guess is that the Tuna will be around for a while, at least until he's comfortable that Ireland and Sparano can operate without him.

So Mr Ross had better play nice. It's not the money according to Parcells. He says he has plenty enough of that. He just wants to keep being successful, which means do it Bill's way or he leaves. Actually good for the Dolphins I think.
