Man, this has been the most active off season I can remember, and most certainly the most active pre-draft ever!

In case you haven't read yet (aka woken up), Ben Roethlisberger has been suspended by the NFL for 6 games. That 6 games could reduce to 4 if Roethlisberger complies with what the NFL wants him to do: take behavioral management classes and such. Coincidently, the Dolphins play the Steelers on October 24th, which is the 6th game of the season for both teams (both have byes in week 5). This means, if Roethlisberger's suspension is reduced, the Dolphins suddenly play a much improved Steelers team.

But wait, there's another twist! According to Adam Schefter's tweets, the Steelers are actively shopping their QB right now. They have called 7 teams in the first round of tomorrow's first round: Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns. Four of these teams loom large for the Dolphins should Roethlisberger be traded: the Seahawks, Raiders, Bills, and Jaguars. The Bills are the key team, obviously, because they are our division rival, and we would have to play Roethlisberger twice a year. However, the Raiders, and Seahawks are key because if the Steelers get the 6th or 8th pick, they will most likely use it to draft Jimmy Clausen... leaving the Bills shit outa luck with their franchise QB hopes--this is good and bad for us because Clausen could turn out to be great, and if so we don't want him with the Bills, but QB is also not one of our needs so if the Bills use the #9 pick on Clausen, it leaves us with one more player to choose from at #12.

The latter reason is the same reason I say a Jaguars trade could affect the Dolphins. That would give the Steelers a pick 2 picks before us and would completely change our draft strategy.

So what do you guys think will happen? With our luck his suspension will be reduced to 4 games and he'll be in Miami on the 24th. But we're up for competition!!

Whoooosh!! Give me some time to digest all of that. The Bills with Roethlisberger would be a completely different team, and the AFC East would be the powerhouse of the NFL if it isn't already! However, whatever happens with this doesn't, in my mind, change the philosophy of the Dolphins going into the draft. And that is DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. Linebacker, Tackle and Safety still dominate the need and that's the way we'll go.

Something tells me that MD knows too much about football, if such a thing was possible.

Well, now Adam Schefter is saying that the likeliness of Roethlisberger getting traded is low, and the team was just shopping him to send him a message that they're tired of his BS.

Onto the draft...
