Armando Salguero had some interesting comments on Ronnie Brown today. Could there be something already worked out? If Ronnie goes, do the Dolphins go completely out of character and draft CJ Spiller at #12?

"Brown, meanwhile, is a curious issue because his status on the team seems to fluctuate depending on the date.

Before the start of the 2008 season the Dolphins were willing to trade Brown. Then they wanted nothing to do with losing him after that season and into 2009.

Now they are open to trading him again, according to other teams that have talked to Miami's personnel people.

There is no confirmation of this from the Dolphins and this doesn't provide it either, but it is a fact: The Dolphins placed Ginn's jersey on sale on their website just prior to him being traded.

Ginn's jersey went from $60 to $15 before Friday's trade. Another jersey was placed on sale at around the same time.

Brown's jersey went from $80 to $20.

Perhaps it was coincidence and meaningless. But one should keep tabs on whether Brown signs his restricted free agent tender from Miami next week. He cannot be traded unless he does so.

But if he does so, it might be a first step that signals another move -- a trade."

I don't think they would take anything less than a 2nd round pick for him, but what team is going to give that up for a guy who has had season ending injuries 2 out of the last 3 seasons?

that would be a very interesting move, but not all that surprising considering his injury history AND his recent DWI. Top brass sending a message to the team maybe.

Oh Yeah I totally forgot about the dui... that has to have something to do with it too.

Well, Brown isn't the only Dolphin with a problem on his record, so I don't see that as a reason why they would be trading him. He didn't have a DUI a couple of years ago when they were trying to trade him. It's the injuries.

I think it is the injuries too.

I am sure he still has a lot of pep left in the engine, but he has probably peaked and the Dolphins are just trying to sell high while they can. His value will only go down from here and he is one more serious injury away from being worth nothing, trade-wise speaking.

Very good point. Randy Mueller made the mistake of not trading Zach Thomas when there were thought to be offers prior to 2006 and 2007, and then when Parcells came in all they could do was release him because he had no value.

Then he got a 2nd rounder for JT and got him back!

There are rumors circulating around the other dolfan website webmasters (we email each other a lot) that Ronnie Brown boarded a flight to detroit today which raises eye brows. Of course, he can't be traded until he signs a tender with the Dolphins, and Omar Kelly tweeted earlier today that Brown will only sign that tender if he sees bigger money beyond that (aka a trade with a contract ready).. and the Phins aren't gonna pay him big money or give him more than a year deal (the tender) because of his injuries.

I did some research and found a couple links that (may) verify that brown and the lions have a connection:

Sooooo what do you guys think about this? The general consensus is that the trifecta won't take less than a 2nd rounder for him.

Well, its a business, and the injuries have been a problem for Ronnie. But you sure hate to see a talent like that go. Normally I kind of discount the rumours, but this one seems to have some legs, and Parcells wants that 2nd Round pick back.

I think Ronnie and the wildcat may be on the way out. This would be a great pickup for the Lions.

But I don't think this means the Dolphins go for C J Spiller in the draft. With Ricky, Cobbs and Hilliard we are still stong at RB.

Ricky!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the fact that Ricky is open to playing beyond this season now, and also carried the load really well last season after Ronnie Brown went down is playing a huge roll in this decision.

Don't get me wrong because I love the idea of seeing Ricky being the starter once again, but do we think he can hold that pace for the whole season. I am sure the others will play a significant role if Brown was to be traded.

Also with the Draft tonight, don't you think we would have heard something by now if this was going to happen?

I guess no one offered a 2nd rounder for him.
