View Full Version : It's Draft talk time...

So although I have been thinking about this and researching what the "experts" think for weeks, I didn't want to jinx the season by talking draft before it was actually over.

While we all know so much will change over the next few months after FA and before the draft, lets see what you guys are thinking right now about our options. It is funny though how the so called "experts" have us picking DE, DT, WR, S, and other positions in the first round. They are pretty much all over the map and while I can't disagree with many of them, WR is definitely the one I would NOT pick round 1 because they so rarely have an impact their first year.

People always talk about the LB's and DE's that Parcells has drafted over the years, but he also drafted a couple of guys named Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn who turned out to be pretty good, so there may be justification for the "experts" having such differing opinions. One thing we can trust in is that if you take the time to look over his history, he hasn't missed much in RD 1, so we can feel pretty good about whoever he picks.

Well we pick at #12.... it depends who is projected to be available then? I think if Florida's TE Aaron Hernandez is available we should grab him. He is Tony Gonzalez like talent and would immediately improve our receivers and our offense. We definitely need a quality ILB as well though.

I don't know how they will address DT because Soliai actually has played extremely well in place of Ferguson. He flattened a number of blockers yesterday and in other games.

didn't we give up over 200 yds rushing last week?

I don't know guys, but I think we need a QB with leadership and balls, someone who can take charge and play when hurt and not sit on the sideline and watch your team fall apart.
Just thinking out loud.

I thought it was all about scoreing pts, so we give up 200yds, If the Offense would score pts , who cares how many yds we give up. I just want to see pts scored every qtr.

as much as i hope bama gets destoryed, i am excited to watch Rolando McClain tonight. He is a beast and I would love, love for him to be a dolphin on draft day (and for many years after that of course).

I think a lot of that has to do with Channing Crowder being hurt, and our lack of linebacker talent in general. Your comment about McClain is intriguing because he would be an instant starter on this team.

and that's what we need. Your first round pick should be in instant impact player. Crowder and McClain would be a tough combo for teams to deal with. This draft appears to be deep at DT from what I've been reading and we may still be able to pick up a good one later in the draft, or FA for that matter.

Yeah drafting a LB who is gonna get like 60 snaps a game as opposed to a WR who might get 10 balls thrown his way a game makes a lot more sense with your first round pick.

I'm afraid to talk draft any more...the last 2 times I was serious and hopeful about a guy, they ended up kickin' ass elsewhere in the league (Rivers and Flacco...well, Rivers at least....Flacco, meh).

I just wait and see anymore...

What's up Navy? The draft will be here before we know it, and you're right, you never know who is gonna be picked. I was sure we'd pick Brady Quinn in 2007... but it looks like he might not have been a better option than Ted Ginn...

I agree, and I would be really surprised if Parcells goes that route. We need to continue to build a great defense.
