Ryan Tannehill gets no National attention or respect

Peter Schrager over at FoxSports.com published his weekly “Cheat Sheet” which previews the upcoming slate of NFL matchups today. His lead narrative calls to attention the lack of attention and respect the media gives Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

He didn’t call out the channel that ran the headline called “Young Guns” on Monday morning, but he tells us they listed the top 12 quarterbacks in their first, second, or third year in the NFL.  Those quarterbacks were (not necessarily, but probably in order): Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, Brandon Weeden, Terrelle Pryor, and E.J. Manuel.

Now, if you count carefully, you’ll see he only listed 11 quarterbacks. So it’s possible either the network simply missed listing Tannehill, or Schrager somehow didn’t see him on the list.  But this is besides the point.

Tannehill and the Dolphins are flying under the radar.  It doesn’t matter that they’re the only 2-0 team with both wins on the road because one was the Browns (with their extremely underrated defense), and the other was the Colts (who are now apparently overrated).

Schrager does make a good point on Tannehill though: “These are the guys I gravitate toward. The ones who don’t do seven magazine covers in an off-season. The ones who don’t do the Super Bowl Radio Row rounds four times in one week to promote multiple endorsement deals.”

He then goes on to pick the Dolphins to beat the Falcons this week, 23-20.

What are your thoughts on the attention (or lack thereof) paid to the Dolphins and Tannehill from the national media? If anyone saw the Monday morning show that ran a segment called “Young Guns”, let me know in the comments below and I’ll update the article.
