Sun Life Stadium will have Free ‘High Density Wi-Fi’ This Season
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, speaking from the 2013 NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix, AZ, says Sun Life Stadium will have free “high density wi-fi” this upcoming season. According to Ben Volin, of the Palm Beach Post, Ross says, “cell phone will work in the stadium
Volin also says the Dolphins and Ross’s company FanVision will offer a free app available
for download on your smartphone (I’m assuming Android and iOS) will also be available in addition to the free Wi-Fi.
Cell phone towers only allow a certain number of connections at a time, so when 70,000+ people are gathered in a concentrated area at once like a professional sports stadium, most people are left waiting in line for a new connection to open up. Even those that are connected experience extremely low and most times unusable bandwidth. This makes it impossible to do more than send and receive text messages, and perhaps a static-filled phone call. Data transfer such as web pages loading, emails, and especially video is extremely hard to get.
This is just the first step in a number of upgrades to Sun Life Stadium as the decision for a $400 million renovation is decided/voted upon over the next month. These upgrades, namely the $400 million overhaul, are key to the Dolphins and the city of Miami landing the 50th NFL Super Bowl in February, 2016.
New Logo will be Unveiled on April 18
Citing several sources, the Miami Dolphins new logo and uniforms will be shown to the public
for the first time on April 18. Speculation has been rampant on what the new logo will look like, but I am very certain this is not it
. Although this logo might have been one of the original variations, I doubt it made it past a first look.
